Twenty-eight Faculty Supported by MOE’s New Century Excellent Talent Program
The Ministry of Education has recently disclosed the winners for “2004 New Century Excellent Talent Program” (NCET), among whom there are 28 young middle-aged teachers from Sun Yat-sen University. They are Chen Minhu, Li Xinchun, Zhou Daming, Chen Yueqin, Cheng Meibao, Qiu Rongliang, Dai Daoqing, Gao Guoquan, Guo Xianping, He Xiaoshun, Hu Jianxun, Li Baojun, Li Gang, Li Zhongfei, Ma Guoqing, Peng Yuping, Qin Qiwei, Ren Jiantao, Su Chengyong, Su Kaile, Tang Yong, Dong Mingliang, Wen Jianping, Xu Donghui, Yang Guowei, Zhang Liming, Zhong Fan, and Zhong Xingwu. NCET is designated to give financial support to academic leaders of creative ability and great potential to facilitate their research. It provides a total sum of 500,000 Yuan for a scholar in sciences and 200,000 Yuan for a scholar in humanity and social sciences in three year. Within this period, some of them will be assigned to undertake cooperative research in prestigious university abroad. 2004 is the first year for the “New Century Excellent Talent”
program. After expert examination and publicity procedure, altogether
1004 teachers from 208 universities across the country have been
included in the NCET list. Sun Yat-sen University ranks 6th, occupying
28 positions in the list.
