Blind Patients Recovered Vision at Sun Yat-sen Ophthalmologic Center

 

“I am greatly indebted to the health care workers at Sun Yat-sen Ophthalmologic Center. Without them, I would live in the world of blindness for the rest of my life”, said Zhong Peilian, a cataract patient who received free surgery to regain her vision at Sun Yat-sen Ophthalmologic Center. She is one of the four patients of poor family background to recover from cataract at the center on May 26. Professor Liu Yizhi, famous expert on cataract and Guangdong Outstanding Youth, was in charge of their operation which was funded by “Foundation for Needy Patients”.

Sun Yat-sen Ophthalmologic Center has send 6 groups of doctors to provide consultation service for local people in Guangzhou, Yangjiang, Yangchun, Fenkia, Xinxing, Guangning, and Longsheng in Guangxi since March this year. Up to now, they have received 1200 people, offered free operation for 46 needy patients, removed cataracts for more than 400 rural residents at a low price, and handed out eye drops worth of 1000 Yuan. Various media, such as Guangdong TV, South TV, Guangzhou TV, Guangzhou Daily, and South Daily, have covered the ophthalmologic center’s free outpatient service.
