School
of Political Science and Public Administration Joined by International
Experts
In an effort to develop the school into a world reputed one, the
School of Political Science and Public Administration has invited
four international experts to work as its counselor: Professor
Thomas Lauth, Dean of the School of Public and International Affairs
at University of Georgia, Professor Jeffrey Straussman, Associate
Dean of the department of Public Administration at Maxwell, Syracuse
University, Professor Jonathan Breul, Senior Fellow at IBM Center
for the Business of Government and formerly Senior Advisor to
the Deputy Director for Management in the Office of Management
and Budget in the Executive Office of President Clinton, and Professor
Lan Zhiyong at the Public Administration School of University
of Arizona. A ceremony was held for their appointment on the morning
of June 17 at the Liangqiuju Hall where Ren Jiantao, Dean of the
School of Public and International Affairs at Sun Yat-sen University,
awarded them the letter of appointment. All of them expressed
that they were willing to provide various counseling service and
international cooperation support for this school.
In terms of discipline ranking, the Department of Public Administration
at Maxwell and the School of Public and International Affairs
at University of Georgia have both been rated among top 3 in the
states. Therefore, the appointment of deans at these two universities
is of great importance for the school’s development.
