SYSU Hits New High in Winning National Natural Science Foundation Support, Ranking 7th in Higher Education Institutes

According to the recently released evaluation results for 2005 National Natural Science Foundation Projects, Sun Yat-sen University has won a financial support of 56 million yuan for its 183 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, scoring a new high against last year’s record high 30.705 million yuan for a total of 136 projects and ranking 7th among higher education institutes in China. Out of this year’s 183 projects, there are 169 general projects supported by an amount of 43.041 million yuan, 4 key projects supported by 4.8 million yuan, 7 recipients of National Outstanding Youth Foundation totaling 7 million yuan, and 3 Overseas-Hong Kong-Macao fund projects with a support of 1.2 million yuan.
