Vice-President of Oracle Asia-Pacific Keith Budge Lectures at Lingnan College

Accompanied by Oracle’s South China region executives, Mr. Keith Budge, Vice-President of Oracle Asia-Pacific, paid a visit to the Lingnan College November 2. Professor Shu Yuan, dean of the college, and Professor Zhang Jianqi, the vice dean of the college, briefed them on the development of the digitalized administration laboratory. Both sides also exchanged ideas on further cooperation.

At 7:30 p.m., a ceremony was held for appointing Keith Budge the part-time professor of Lingnan College, in which SYSU Vice President Yu Shiyou awarded him the Appointment Letter and Mr. Shu Yuan made the congratulation address. Mr. Budge expressed his gratitude for the position and said he would like to contribute to the development of the college.

Mr. Keith Budge made a speech under the title of Oracle’s Strategy and Management in Asia-Pacific Region after the ceremony, talking about the company’s challenge, competition strategy, corporate culture and management model in this region. He thought Oracle faced five challenges in the Asia-Pacific Region: Balancing the relationship between globalization and localization, familiarizing Oracle’s headquarter associates with Asian culture and custom, cut-throat competition, the relationship between long-term development and short-term development, and attracting and keeping talents.

An answer-question session followed the lecture, he encouraged the students to raise difficult questions. When talking about the cooperation with higher education institutes, he said that the Lingnan College was the first one who introduced Oracle’s corporate application software such as ERP, CRM and SCM into teaching while its collaboration with other schools was focused on database technology, and the company would continue its efforts to support the college on areas as teacher training, curriculum design and students’ recruitment.

The lecture won storms of applause from the audience.
