Head of International Affairs of Karolinska Institute Visits SYSU

 

Dr. Gunilla Norhagen, head of International Affairs of Karolinska Institute, paid a visit to Sun Yat-sen University the afternoon of April 14. She was received by SYSU president Huang Daren and vice president Xu Ningsheng at the Distinguished Guest’s Room of Zhongshan Building. Academician Zeng Yixin, director of Cancer Center, as well as vice director of International Affairs Office Xu Yao also attended the meeting. The main purpose of Norhagen’s visit is to discuss these two university’s cooperation in medical field. Both sides make it a point to further collaborate and decide to co-sponsor a medical symposium in July this year.

Karolinska Institute is one of Europe's largest medical universities, boasting of first-class laboratories in the world. In 2003, SYSU signed cooperation deal with Karolinska with the aim to mutually promote research and graduate teaching in biological and medical field. In March 2004, both sides established the Oncology Laboratory in a joint effort and began to exchange faculty and embark on research collaboration in a substantial way.
