“Hong Kong-Pearl River Delta Industrial Structural Transformation & Economic Growth" Seminar Held in SYSU

 

To implement the Outline of Pearl River Delta Regional Plan on Reformation and Development (2008-2020) and to promote the economic transformation and collaboration of the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong the “Hong Kong-Pearl River Delta Industrial Structural Transformation & Economic Growth" seminar was held in the Swasey Hall of SYSU on April 26. The seminar was sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University and Peking University, and co-organized by Hong Kong University, the Friends of Beida (Hong Kong), and Bocheng Foundation of Peking. Song Hai, the vice governor of Guangdong province, Min Weifang, secretary of the Party committee of Peking University, Zheng Detao, secretary of the party committee of Sun Yat-sen University, Tan Guangheng, vice president of Hong Kong University, and Su Zhijia, member of the standing committee of the CPC Guangzhou municipal committee, and others attended the opening ceremony and gave speeches. A total number of 140 people participated in the seminar, including scholars and experts from both Hong Kong and the mainland China, businessman from the Pearl River Delta. The opening ceremony is hosted by Chen Guanghan, the director of Hong Kong, Macao and the Pearl River Delta Research Centre of SYSU.

At the meeting, experts from Peking University, Hong Kong University, Sun Yat-sen University, National Development and Reform Commission’s Macroeconomic Research Institute delivered their speeches on topics such as “the Chinese macroeconomic policy and regional economies development”, “competing for the financial center: Global and Hong Kong's experience and its enlightenment to China”, “the industrial clusters upgrading and the institutional innovations”, “development mode’s transformation and institutional innovations”, “transformation of cooperation pattern between Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta ”, “`Hong Kong–Pearl River Delta and the global economy” .They also launched discussions and exchanged their opinions with conference representatives.
