SYSU Cooperates with FINUCI on China-France Nuclear Institute
From June 8th-- June 11th, Jean-Marie Bourgeois-Demersay, vice-president of Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble(INPG), initiator of FINUCI; Alexandre Ziegler, consul of the culture section of La France en China; and Jean-Raphael Peytregnet, consulate in general of France Consulate General Guangzhou, paid a visit to SYSU. SYSU and FINUCI signed a letter of intent on jointly establishing SYSU China-France Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology. On behalf of SYSU and FINUCI respectively, Vice-president Xu Ningsheng and Jean-Marie Bourgeois-Demersay, vice-president of INPG, signed a letter of intent. According to the intent, with the support of both Chinese and French governments and cooperation of corporations affiliated with universities, SYSU and FINUCI will jointly establish China-France Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology in Zhuhai campus, which is featured with Ecole d'Ingénieur-like excellence education and high-calibre research, and aims to form a center for cultivation of nuclear engineering and technology talents and development of nuclear technology. China-France Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology will go into operation in September, 2010, with intake of about 100 students per academic year, and the study period in the institute is six years. The establishment of the institute will introduce the advanced experience of cultivating nuclear engineers in France, the superior research strength and resources in nuclear industry, which is of great significance to the revision and improvement of national engineer education system and the development of key industries. Before the signing ceremony, President Huang Daren, Vice-president Xu Ningsheng and Wei Haiming, president assistant, exchanged ideas with the guests in a friendly atmosphere. The establishment of FINUCI is initiated by Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, with members of The French Atomic Energy Commission- Institut National des Sciences et Techniques, Nucléaires, Ecole des Mines de Nantes, École nationale supérieure de chimie de Paris, École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, which cover all the fields in nuclear energy sector, and take lead in their own research fields in France.
