Harvest by Our Swimming Team in the National Match

From August 5^th to 6^th, 2002 National University Students Swimming Match was held in Tianjing University’s natatorium with contestants from 21 universities such as Tsinghua University, Beijing University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Led by Yangyun, deputy secretary of Education School, our delegation consists of 22 athletes whose coach is Kang Yin. The deputy head of the Sports Center, Zhong Haiou has been selected into the meet’s organizing committee as a state umpire and assumes responsibility for swimming technique inspection. He Haijiang has been appointed as an umpire.

After two days’ tense competition, our school team has made great achievement and brought honor to our school. In total, we have won 19 medals, in which 7 are gold, 8 silver, 4 copper. In the same time, our school’s swimming team has taken the first prize in men and women’s group B, the first prize in men’s group B, the second prize in women’s group B. For eight times, our swimmers have broken the national university students swimming record, of whom Zheng Shibin from Politics and Administration Department Grade 2001 have broken record in men’s group B 200m individual medley and 200m backstroke, Zhou Jiawei from the same department and grade has broken record in men’s group B 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle. Ruan Tian from Management Department Grade 98 has broken record in women’s Group B 200m breaststroke. The SYSU swimming team has broken 3 records: men’s Group B 4*100 freestyle relay, 4*100 medley relay and 4*200 freestyle relay.
